Nasavrky and Schwarzenbach are small towns surrounded by beautiful nature. They have much in common; above all, both places were settled by the Celts—the Boii tribe—in the past. During the La Tène period, the Celts built significant settlements here.

The Nasavrky Celtic Archaeological Open-Air Museum and the Land of the Celts

The Land of the Celts encompasses a Celtic open-air museum, an exhibition, a trail, and an oppidum, as well as Celtic traditions, crafts, and holiday celebrations. Based on the existence of a nearby oppidum in Hradiště (České Lhotice), a Celtic open-air museum was built near Nasavrky; it features reconstructions of Celtic houses, farmsteads, and, most notably, fortifications and gates.

The open-air museum is complemented by an exhibition on the Celts at the Nasavrky Castle, as well as a trail that winds through the beautiful countryside of the Iron Mountains from Nasavrky to the oppidum and back.

The most significant event is Lughnasad—an international festival of Celtic culture.

All activities are organized by the Boii, z.s. association in cooperation with the City of Nasavrky, the Pardubice Region, and other partners.

Freilich Museum Keltendorf Schwarzenbach

Archaeological research was conducted at the site of the Schwarzenbach open-air museum, and based on these findings, reconstructions of several types of houses—including their furnishings—were built on Burgberg Hill. The newest of these houses houses a multimedia exhibition.

There is also an observation tower on the hill. At the foot of the hill is an area with a wooden, covered stage and small wooden huts for crafts and sales—used for various events and by schools. The largest event is the Keltenfest in June, a celebration of the summer solstice, and in August, the Keltentage—Celtic Days—are held here. The hilltop is surrounded by historic ramparts that have been preserved to this day.

It is maintained by the municipality of Schwarzenbach in cooperation with archaeologists and local
residents. The Boii Pannonia association presents life and crafts here.

The Town of Nasavrky

The town of Nasavrky (formerly also known in German as Nassaberg) is located in the Chrudim District (about 13 km south of Chrudim) in the Pardubice Region, in eastern Bohemia.
