About the Land of the Celts
The Land of the Celts encompasses the town of Nasavrky and its immediate surroundings, which feature the stunning natural beauty of the Iron Mountains—a region that bears witness to Celtic settlement. The center of the Land is an open-air museum, the creation of which was inspired by a Celtic oppidum—a prehistoric town whose remains are located near Nasavrky in the village of České Lhotice. These two sites are connected by an educational trail, along which you’ll also find, for example, the “In the Footsteps of the Celts” exhibition (at the castle) and the Boiku observation tower. The Land of the Celts was created by the Boii Association in collaboration with archaeologists, prominent figures, partners, and, above all, volunteers. The association’s goal is to introduce visitors to our roots, traditions, crafts, and the skills of our ancestors, as well as to the beautiful natural surroundings, with an emphasis on understanding and protecting them. České Lhotice Oppidum
On a promontory above the Chrudimka River, the Celts built an oppidum—a prehistoric town—in the 2nd century B.C., of which the remains of massive defensive ramparts have survived.
Hradiště Waterfall
Within sight of the hiking trail, the Hradišťský Stream forms a small waterfall. It’s most spectacular after heavy rains.
The Peklo Hiker's Camp
One of the oldest tramp settlements in the Czech Republic. As you walk through it, you can admire the beautiful carved wooden statues.
The Chrudimka River Valley
The Krkanka and Strádovské peklo Nature Reserves are among the most beautiful places in the Železné hory Protected Landscape Area.
The Ruins of Strádov Castle
The castle, built on a rock above the Chrudimka River, is first mentioned as early as the 14th century. It fell into disrepair after the Hussite Wars. A legend about an evil princess is associated with the castle.
Boika Observation Tower
From the 14.5-meter-high observation tower, you can see the Krkonoše Mountains, the Orlické Mountains, and the Jeseníky Mountains on a clear day. The observation tower is open to the public year-round.
Stone Circle
A place perfect for relaxation and contemplation overlooking the Debrný Creek valley, imbued with Celtic spirituality.
Kaštanka
Jan Adam Auersperg planted an orchard of horse chestnut trees that bear edible chestnuts in 1776 in a section of the castle gardens.
Nasavrky Castle
