The Partnership with the "Keltendorf" Open-Air Museum in Schwarzenbach

Nasavrky and Schwarzenbach are two small towns surrounded by beautiful nature. They have much in common; above all, both were settled by the Celts in the past. The Celts built significant settlements here during the La Tène period.

Nasavrky Celtic Archaeological Park and Celtic Land

Celtic Land itself encompasses the Celtic Open-Air Museum, the exhibition, the educational trail, and the oppidum… as well as Celtic traditions, crafts, and Celtic festivals. Based on the existence of the oppidum in Hradiste (České Lhotice), the Celtic Open-Air Museum in Nasavrky was built; it features reconstructions of Celtic houses, farmsteads, and, above all, the fortifications and the gate.

The open-air museum complements the Celtic exhibition at Nasavrky Castle and the nature trail through the beautiful landscape of the Iron Mountains, stretching from Nasavrky to the oppidum and back.
Lughnasad—the international festival of Celtic culture—is the most significant event.

All of this is organized by the Boii Association, z.s., in cooperation with the town of Nasavrky and the Pardubice District.

 

Schwarzenbach Celtic Village Open-Air Museum

An archaeological survey was conducted at the site of the Schwarzenbach Open-Air Museum, and based on its findings, several reconstructions of houses—complete with furnishings—have been built on Burgberg. The newest building houses a multimedia exhibition. There is also an observation tower on the hill. At the foot of the hill is a wooden platform and small wooden huts used for crafts and sales, as well as for various events and school programs.

The largest event is the Celtic Festival—a summer solstice celebration in June. In August, the “Celtic Days” event takes place here. The hill is surrounded by historic ramparts.
All of this is organized by the municipality of Schwarzenbach in cooperation with local residents.
