Woodcarving Weekend at the Open-Air Museum
August 29–31, 2025
We invite you to a weekend workshop on woodcarving and wood sculpture at the Land of the Celts open-air museum, where hands, stories, and nature come together as one.
We’ll immerse ourselves in the mysterious world of Celtic mythology and La Tène art, and together we’ll create wooden works inspired by ancient stories and the symbolism of the ancient Celts.
Our woodcarving adventure will be enriched by the Singing Sculptor from the South—from the Danube region, at the confluence of the Svratka and Svitava rivers. He’ll bring with him new themes, ideas, and inspiration, which we’ll transform into wood.
Would you like to be part of this, listen to the wood, and learn a craft that carries the voice of the past?
What’s in store for you?
- A hands-on woodcarving workshop—you’ll learn both basic and more advanced woodworking techniques under the guidance of experienced instructor Patrik Vlček.
- We’ll be creating small sculptures (up to about 30 cm in diameter and 60 cm in height) or 2D reliefs.
- Inspired by Celtic mythology and La Tène art—together we’ll delve into ancient stories and forms, but if you have your own idea, we’ll be happy to help you bring your unique creation to life.
- A weekend in the beautiful setting of the Iron Mountains and the Land of the Celts open-air museum—you can look forward to a friendly atmosphere, evening gatherings around the campfire, and the chance to meet other interesting people.
- You’ll have the chance to swim in a nearby quarry and enjoy free time to relax in nature.
